Leavenworth & Chelan – Summer 2025

We left home on Monday, July 7th, headed to Leavenworth to spend the week up in the mountains with Ellen and Bernie.

It was 96° when we arrived, 105° on Tuesday then settled down to the mid 80s for a couple days before reaching the 90s again by Friday.

We stayed in site 104, Bernie and Ellen were in site 106.

Last Summer we stayed here right on the river and it was so loud that we decided to reserve a couple of sites further away so we didn’t have to yell to speak to each other.

Icicle River RV Park has a variety of large trees that provide much needed shade.

While we were in Leavenworth, we:

  • Met up with Courtney and Leonard and their kids for dinner at a Mexican restaurant
  • Had a nice evening and dinner at Monty‘s house in Wenatchee along with his wife, Jennifer, his son, Collin, his daughter Kaley, her husband Lance and their kids, Karen‘s cousin Mike and his girlfriend Alison.
  • Went for a bike ride from Icicle Creek into Leavenworth and through the park, along the river
  • Walked through the shops in Leavenworth
  • Had ice cream at Whislepunk
  • Played putt-putt golf
  • Played Domino’s and Corn Hole with Ellen and Bernie
  • Went to an outdoor play, the Sound of Music. It felt like we were in the Alps!
  • Had a beach day at the river.  Even though it was super hot, the river water was so cold you could stand in it up to your knees and be cooled down
  • Ate burgers at the HeidleBurger drive-in

We stayed in Leavenworth until Saturday morning, then drove to Lake Chelan and stayed at the 12 Tribes Casino in Manson.  It was our first time there, a decent, inexpensive RV park, close to town.

While in Lake Chelan we:

  • Met up with Tony, Tina and Gabby at the Lake Chelan Brewery for dinner & beers
  • Listened to the Chris Eager Band on a beautiful evening at WineGirl.  We were joined by Tony, Rick &  Candice.  Rick was the keyboardist in the band
  • Road bikes to a nearby beach and had a beach day with Bernie & Ellen, Rick and Candace
  • Had lunch and beers at Buddy's Place on Wapato Way
  • Lounged in the shade and played cribbage while the misters kept us cool in the 105º heat.

The weather was hot all week with the coolest day being about 85º with a couple of days over 100º.  We escaped the heat got home safely on Monday, July 14th.

It was a wonderful stay.  We're really enjoying our new camper!
