Sierra Blanco Brewing – Moriarty, NM

After five weeks in Arizona, we departed Apache Junction and drove 440 miles to Moriarty, NM, just east of Albuquerque.

We stayed at a Harvest Host location, the Sierra Blanco Brewing Company.

After we parked and got set up, we walked the short distance to the brewery. I had a beer and Karen had a black cherry soda. Both were excellent!

The lady bartender told us that daylight savings time starts tonight!  it was time to turn our clocks ahead.  Karen and I both laughed because it was the first we had heard of it. Shows how much of a vacation attitude we had going. Coincidentally, the next day, we crossed the Texas border and essentially lost two hours!

It got down to 15° that night, quite an adjustment from the low 90's we experienced less than 24 hours before. I was scrambling to make sure I had all our bases covered to avoid freezing pipes. We kept the heat on 66° inside the cabin using a our trailer's integrated propane heater, which has vents to heat the underbelly. We also turned on the instant hot water tank, which automatically detects cold temperatures, and turns itself on periodically to heat up the water to keep it from freezing .

We also kept the water pump on. I turned the water on a few times during the night to keep the pipes from freezing.

Heading towards Missouri!
