Superstition Sunrise – Feb 2026

We flew back down to Arizona on February 1, left Paine field in 43° rain and arrived in Phoenix to 80° sunshine. We stayed overnight at Bernie and Ellen‘s one night and picked up our truck and trailer on Monday. They had been safely stowed at a CubeSmart self storage facility.

While in Arizona, we stayed at Superstition Sunrise RV Resort for the second time. Here are some of our many adventures using Apache Junction as a homebase:

  • Attended the Phoenix Open and met up with Ron, Lori, Randy and Rick
  • Went to Ron & Lori’s for Super Bowl 60 and watched the Seahawks dominate New England to become World Champions!
  • Watched the band called grassy ass with Ellen and Bernie, smashed tacos and played swipe
  • Went for a bike ride in the neighborhood surrounding the park
  • Played golf with Steve, Jerry and Dale (Dale said Annie Annie Eye Over)
  • Played golf with Ken Morrison at Echo Mesa, shot a 78 there for the third time in a row!
  • Golfed with Ron, Lori & Ken at Granite Falls in The Grand
  • Had lunch with the four of us plus Karen after golf at Maple and Rye

  • Ate a delicious Valentine’s Day meal at Papa Bears, Texas barbecue and watched a great movie, the Shack
  • Went to Scott and Karen’s for appetizers
  • Biked to Gilbert with Karen and Scott, Lloyd & Elise, Barry & Marlene, Ellen and Bernie
  • Watched a Mariner game, the Mariners lost 27 to 6!  We found out the next day that all of the Mariner Veteran players were in the World Baseball Classic
  • Had a nice evening with Monte and Jennifer at their place, Valle de Oro, along with Ellen, Bernie, Ray and Pat
  • Went to All Saints Catholic church with Ray & Pat at 4 PM on a Saturday, picked up. Papa bears full rack of ribs on the way and had them after church along with potato salad.
  • Had happy hour with Lloyd, Elise and 18 of their friends
  • Ate ice cream at Andy’s, twice
  • Had a pool day where we just lounged by the pool and swam, Karen did 4 loads of laundry
  • Celebrated Karen’s birthday with her mom and dad and at Ellen and Bernie‘s house
  • Played card bingo with Ray & Pat twice.

The weather was great! We had two weeks of 85° weather when we first arrived, four or five days of cooler 60° weather with some rain, followed by the last two weeks of 85 to 95° weather, unseasonably warm for late Feb, early March.

Every time we go to AZ, it feels like every day is a vacation!
