Long Beach Kite Festival – 2025

We spent four nights at Sunrise Pacific Beach RV Resort with Ed and Betty, August 17th - 21st.  The Long Beach Kite Festival was fabulous!

This was the first trip with our new diesel F350 tow vehicle.  It's a beast!  It performed wonderfully and made towing our Keystone a much better experience.  We got 13 mpg, which is 2 - 3 mpg better than what we would've gotten with our F150. The cost of diesel is more, so it's a wash financially, but it will allow us to go longer in between fueling on long trips, which is a big plus.

And with our OpenRoad app, we should be saving some money, once we get outside of Washington's exorbitant diesel prices.

While we were at Long Beach we:

  • Re-learned how to fly a Delta two-string kite
  • Watched a whale breach from the shoreline!
  • Had ice cream at Scoopers (twice)
  • Ate Bar-B-Q at Terrell's
  • Visited our good friends Beth & Raymond, who now live full time at their beach house
  • Took some long walks on the beach
  • Enjoyed the sand sculptures left over from July's event
  • Played Rumicube and other games with Ed and Betty and their granddaughter McKenzie

It was our second time at the kite festival and we thoroughly enjoyed it!
